Feel the burn: Joey Essex and James 'Arg' Argent pull some unusual expressions during Marbella workout

Being on television sounds like a glamorous affair, with red carpet events and photo opportunities galore.

But James 'Arg' Argent, Gemma Collins and Joey Essex are obviously fed up of former co-stars Amy Childs and Mark Wright hogging the glory - and are on a mission to lose weight and get in shape.

The trio were seen sweating out their toxins during a gruelling beach workout with a personal trainer.

Exhausted: Arg and Gemma huffed and puffed their way through the afternoon

The boys both wore vest tops emblazoned with the bootcamp logo, while Gemma opted for a T-shirt slogan that read 'My Date Is Outta Town'.

There seemed to be a palaver before the friends even flew out, with Arg and Gemma travelling together from Gatwick and Joey from Gatwick alone.

Arg tweeted: '@JoeyEssex_ Didn't leave u (sic), u left everything last minute. I got u a flight, I checked you in Online and printed your boarding pass #CryBaby.'

He added: 'On Plane with @missgemcollins on the way to Marbella! @JoeyEssex_ Make sure someone from the airline is with you at all times! See you at Malaga Airport... #VivaEspana x'

The wedding singer, who used to date Lydia Bright, then heaped praise on Joey for taking part in the exercises - especially as he is the trimmest of the threesome and does not need to shed pounds.

Cheeky Joey relished the credit, telling his online followers he felt like he was 'in the army'.

He said: 'You know what!!! I'm getting involed in the activities!!! Let's do this! Feel like I'm in the Army! #toysoldier #toystory.

Gemma, however, seemed to be taking the regime a lot less seriously, preferring to lather on her lip gloss and top up her tan while sunbathing.

She tweeted: 'Lip gloss on all ready for 3 mile run along beach @no1bootcamp... I am officially Jane Fonda today off for a little sunbathe now @JoeyEssex_ @RealJamesArgent are doing so well.'

Petite: Arg's female friend didn't look like she needed to shift pounds

The 30-year-old, who has made no secret of yo-yo dieting, then reclined to read Closer magazine, in which she is weekly columnist.

Gemma added: 'On the sun lounger reading my @CloserOnline column pick a copy up and find out all about what I got up too last week x'

Arg is currently trying to get in shape for the Virgin London Marathon on April 22.
