At 53, she's double the age of most of her pop competition.
But as she's proven time and again, Madonna refuses to give in to the ravages of years.
The superstar premiered the video for her latest single Turn Up The Radio, and it's clear that she's a long way from resigning herself to a world of slippers and hot cocoa.
Over the course of five minutes and 14 seconds Madonna appears to travel the length and breadth of Italy, picking up a seemingly endless supply of young male admirers on her way.

Defying age: Madonna is miraculously smooth-faced and toned in her new Turn Up The Radio video
Refuses to act her age: Madonna shows off her youthful figure in a pair of black hot pants
She emerges from an Italian hotel wearing black leather hot pants, stilettos, and a leather jacket, her blonde hair in a sixties style and eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses.
Behind her sunglasses Madonna's face appears incredibly smooth and wrinkle-free, and her body somehow remains that of a twenty-something dancer.
The honed star is rushed into a car, where she cowers in the back behind the driver's seat.

Hiding from the crowds: The opening scenes of the video show Madonna escaping a hotel and hiding in the back of a car

Right behind you: Madonna gets rather friendly with her hot young driver
Local attraction: Madonna befriends a dancer she passes in the street and takes him back to her car
As they drive along, Madonna watches out of the window, and is delighted when she spots a dancer performing in the street.
She jumps out of the car and persuades the dancer to join her, and as he does so the roof comes off the convertible.
Madonna sits on top of the back seats dancing, and gradually attracts a crowd of fans who follow her wherever she goes.

Time to relax: The roof comes off the convertible, and Madonna sits casually on the back seat
Quite the tour: Madonna appears to travel the length and breadth of Italy
It has been a tough week for Madonna as is was announced that she was set to be sued by two separate parties.
The singer caused outrage when an image of Marine Le Pen, who heads the far right National Front, with a Swastika across it appeared at the pop singer's sell-out concert in Paris on Saturday.
This led to Florian Philippot, the FN's vice-president, saying the party could not accept 'such an odious comparison'.

The Sixties meet Catwoman: Madonna channels a mixture of styles with her hair and outfit
Pledging a formal complaint, Mr Philippot said: 'This is just another provocation in Madonna's world tour so that people will talk about her.
'Marine Le Pen will defend not only her own honour but her supporters and the millions of National Front voters.'
Ms Le Pen, 43, herself threatened prosecution when Madonna performed the same stunt in Israel, saying: 'We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes.'
Tiring work: Madonna collapses after her exhausting whirlwind tour at the end of the video
Asked if she was likely to sue, Ms Le Pen, 43, said: 'If she does that in France, we'll be waiting'.
It also emerged this week that a record company is reportedly trying to sue the singer for copyright infringement on the single Vogue, which was released 22-years ago.
VMG Salsoul has filed a lawsuit against the 53-year-old megastar, claiming she used samples from Salsoul Orchestra's 1977 dance song Chicago Bus Stop (Ooh, I Love It).
According to TMZ, the company believes Madonna sampled horns and strings from the track – and never paid to do so.

She is often lambasted for lip-syncing in her performances.
And while Madonna has been dancing up a storm on stage during her MDNA tour, it appears that she has also been strenuously straining her vocal chords.
So much so that the 53-year-old singer revealed some massive bulging veins around her neck as she took to the stage in Berlin this evening.

The Like A Prayer star over-exerted herself so much that they began to pop as she belted out a tune.
The blonde star was also sweating profusely as she strummed away on her guitar.
And it's no wonder why, as she had slipped into a very tight black costume featuring vinyl and Lycra.

Underneath the ensemble she wore a leopard print bra and her look was finished off by some fingerless leather gloves and a coat of black polish on her nails.
During the performance, Madonna stretched out on a raised platform where she showed off her ample cleavage in the outfit.
Throughout the show she displayed her usual antics featuring her signature sexy moves.

The pop star is currently on the European leg of her 80 nation MDNA tour, which kicked off last month in Tel Aviv.
The epic show marks the start of her ninth world tour and her first since her Sticky And Sweet set in 2008.
The singer changes outfits eight times, but her famous conical bra is the highlight of the collection.

Three cheers for Madge: The singer changed into her signature baton-twirling costume during another song
And last night her daughter Lourdes Leon posed in her mother's famous attire and posted a cheeky snap of herself on her Twitter account.

This time around the designer Jean Paul Gaultier reinvented the bra and corset, layering it over a suit just as he did 22 years ago albeit with a few key alterations.
He told WWD earlier this year: 'We played with the ideas of a suit and a corset. But the corset is now like a cage. What I have done this time is a nod to the conical bra corset of the Blond Ambition tour but reinterpreted in 3-D, in patent leather on the outside with metallic leather on the inside. It's all about masculine and feminine, Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier classics reinterpreted for 2012.'
The MDNA tour wardrobe, including costumes for Madonna, her 22 dancers, backing singers and band, was overseen by long-time stylist and costume designer Arianne Phillips, who has styled her last four world tours.
Other designers lucky enough to dress the Material Girl and her troupe were Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang, Dolce & Gabbana, Fausto Puglisi and J Brand.
MDNA is scheduled to travel from Europe to the Americas before finishing in Australia in early 2013, where she has not performed in more than 20 years.

Taking tome out: Madonna and her family visited the Kabbalah centre in Manhattan today
She may be gearing up for a huge US tour but Madonna is still making time to fit family, friends and even religion into her hectic schedule.
The 53-year-old stepped out in New York City today, accompanied by a clan including her good photographer friend Steven Klein.
It was a family affair as the group headed to a Kabbalah centre in Manhattan, each member wearing the red wristband which became quite the trendy accessory with celebrities at one time.
Madonna donned an unconventional monochrome ensemble consisting of brogue shoes, a leather jacket as well as a leather hat over her tied back locks.
She was looking very chic throwing a Chanel scarf over a black and white stripe turtleneck but pulled on very casual jogging trousers which were mismatched to the rest of her outfit.
Shielding her eyes with D&G sunglasses, she walked separately from her girls Mercy and Lourdes, while Klein carried her adopted son David on his shoulders and strolled by Guy Ritchie’s son, Rocco’s side.

Odd ensemble: The star dressed in casual trousers with a Chanel scarf and leather jacket and hat

Looking Stylish: The star's daughter Lourdes will be accompanying the 53-year-old on tour working in the wardrobe department

Lourdes, 15, was looking stylish as she coordinated her Kabbalah band with her printed dress and gold jewellery.
The brunette added in a casual element with a green shirt which she rolled up at the sleeves and black loafer shoes with socks.
The teenager – whose father is dancer, actor and personal trainer Carlos Leon – will be helping her mother out on the wardrobe department when she begins her American concert dates in August.
Madonna dashed her daughter’s hopes of dancing during the gigs when the world tour starts this month.
Aides for the singer say the young lady has been consigned to the clothing department.
Just the boys: The star's photographer friend carried David on his shoulders and Guy Ritchie's son Rocco was by his side
A source said: ‘There are no plans for Lourdes to be on stage and she will not be dancing or performing. She will be working in wardrobe.’
Perhaps it is punishment for Lourdes, who recently upset her mother when she was caught puffing away on a cigarette.
It is not known what her 11-year-old boy from her British film director ex-husband will be doing to keep himself occupied throughout the summer.
Perhaps he along with Malawian adopted siblings, Mercy and David, both six, will be accompanying their famous mother around the globe also.

To some the quiff, ultra short shorts and arm warmers are a fashion statement from a woman never afraid to break the rules.
For others, the look is enough to prompt the kindly advice to Madonna: Isn’t it time to hang up the fishnets?
Not that the 53-year-old, who has long tried to hold back the years, is likely to listen, however.

Too old? Madonna's performance at the Bayfront Park music festival in Miami had some people wondering if she was trying too hard to hold back the years
The singer chose the risqué outfit for her fresh-faced appearance at the Bayfront Park music festival in Miami on Saturday.
She did, however, make a few concessions to her age by wearing a pair of Chanel leather gloves and making sure her neck was covered with her long blonde hair.
And no Madonna show would be complete without an extra element of controversy.
This time she appeared to make a reference to drugs as she introduced performer DJ Avicii on stage.
Not her best angle! Madonna's sag could be seen as she was pictured from the side
She said: ‘How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?
Are you ready to dance? Are you ready to make some noise?’
Molly is sometimes used as a slang term for MDMA or ecstasy.
Her appearance comes as her latest video – Girl Gone Wild – was banned from being seen by under-18s on YouTube.
The video features Madonna in black PVC hotpants and YouTube rules say videos can be restricted if they contain ‘dramatised or implied sexual conduct’.
Her publicist Liz Rosenberg described the ban as 'some things never change', recalling the time MTV banned Madonna's promo for Justify My Love.

Act you age: While her fans adore her quest for eternal youth, critics just want her to 'put it away now'

Another day, another award: Kate Winslet attends the 37th Cesar Film Awards at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France
Kate Winslet may only be in her mid-30s, but her latest public appearance led to comparisons with someone almost 20 years her senior.
The actress, 36, bore an uncanny resemblance to Madonna during a jaunt to Paris.
As she made her way into the Theatre du Chatelet for the Cesar awards, Kate channeled the Queen of Pop, who is 53.
Winner! The actress collects her award in a dress with a plunging neckline
Kate wore a daring dress with a plunging neckline for the event, where she received an honorary César Award.
The French Academy of Cinematic Arts and Techniques recently announced that it will pay tribute to Winslet's life and acting career by honouring her with the French equivalent of the Academy Award.
Director Quentin Tarantino received the award last year and other previous recipients include Meryl Streep, Spike Lee, Jean-Luc Godard and Ingrid Bergman.

Sparkling: Kate picked up her award in a glittering dress
Happy days: The actress reacts as she receives an honorary Cesar award from French director Michel Gondry
The actress will no doubt put the award next to her three Golden Globe awards as well as the Best Actress Academy Award she won for her role in The Reader.
As if resembling someone older than her wasn't bad enough, earlier in the day Kate's crow's feet were highlighted when she arrived at the Ritz Hotel.
Kate could do nothing to hide them as she raised a smile while entering the plush hotel.

Read between the lines: Kate Winslet had crow's feet around her eyes as she made her way into the Ritz Hotel in Paris today
All in black: The actress arrived at the hotel in a simple yet chic ensemble
She wore a smart all-black ensemble comprised an LBD, a blazer, peep toe heels and a small handbag.
The actress was accompanied by her partner Ned Rocknroll to the event - he wore a matching grey blazer and waistcoat with a white shirt, dark grey trousers and a pair of black shoes.
Kate youthful looks landed her a contract as the face of Lancôme.
Still got it: Kate looked radiant, beaming as she made her way into the Ritz with boyfriend Ned Rocknroll
In March 2010 the actress appeared to have had her face airbrushed in an advert for the make-up company.
Understandable when one's face is being splashed across huge posters in city's and towns around the world.
However, in 2003 she complained when a GQ magazine cover shot was digitally altered to make her look slimmer.
Not to worry: The actress has complained about being airbrushed in the past
And only two years ago she proclaimed: ‘I have wrinkles which are very evident.
'I will particularly say when I look at movie posters, “You guys have airbrushed my forehead. Please can you change it back?”’
Perhaps a glance at last year's remarkably flattering portraits convinced her that sometimes a little perfection doesn’t hurt.

Fresh-faced: Kate's good looks earned her a contact with French make-up firm Lancôme

-Says pressure is on to perform well and please fans
-Promises 'no wardrobe malfunction'

Back in the spotlight: A beefed-up Madonna appeared at a press conference in Indianapolis ahead of her half time Super Bowl performance on Sunday
She's as fastidious with her workouts as she is at keeping herself in the showbiz spotlight.
And just three days ahead of her Super Bowl half time performance and it appears Madonna has been hitting the gym hard in preparation for her performance in front of an expected 100m plus viewers.
The 53-year-old singer will make her singing comeback on Sunday when she takes to the stage during the popular American sporting event, revealing she will give renditions of three old songs and her new track, Give Me All Your Luvin.
The Material Girl singer attended a press conference today in Indianapolis, admitting she is somewhat nervous about performing in front of such a large live TV audience.
Madge sported a pinstriped outfit for the occasion, with her waistcoat revealing her bulging biceps which have made her synonymous with the gym junkie culture.
Her corset-style top also revealed her tiny waist. Back in May last year she shocked reporters at the Met Ball Gala in New York, revealing she felt fat in her stunning blue gown.
While fashion critics agreed she looked stunning, the Queen of Pop had apparently lost her red carpet confidence and felt self-conscious in the Stella McCartney-designed clinging dress.
Just a few years back - before taking a musical hiatus to direct her first movie, W.E., Madge would workout for hour and hours every day.
In an interview this week, she claims to have cut down - but still admits to doing 90 minutes of exercise five days a week.
'Mania? There is that rumour,' she told Anderson Cooper when he asked if she worked out obsessively.

Hitting the gym: The singer appears to have been working out hard in preparation for her performance and showed off a tiny waist and bulging biceps
Feeling the pressure: She admitted to feeling nervous about performing in front of such a large live television audience, which is expected to be 100m plus
She went on: 'I don't work out as much as I used to to tell you the truth, it's been widdelled down to an hour and a half five days a week. I have four kids, I have five jobs.'
Speaking at today's press conference, Madonna said it was a dream come true to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show - but conceded she was feeling pressured by singing in front of the huge live television audience.
Last year's Super Bowl attracted U.S. viewers of 111 million people - the largest for a single television broadcast in the United States.
'This is a Midwesterner girls dream to be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show,' said Madonna, who was born in Bay City, Michigan.

Animated: The singer spoke to the assembled press, revealing she will sing three old songs and her new track
Fashion statement: She donned pin striped trousers, a corset-style top and mini waistcoat
'In over 25 years of performing that I've done, I have never worked so hard or been so scrupulous or detail-orientated or freaked out as much as I have had maintaining my sanity and trying to make the most major show at this Super Bowl,' she added.
Asked if she felt the pressure of the massive audience, Madonna, who has performed at stadiums around the world on her global tours, replied simply 'Yes, I do.'
Madonna, whose biggest global live TV performance was likely Live Aid in 1985, said she would sing three 'old songs' and her new single 'Give Me All Your Luvin' during the show.
She said she would dedicate her performance to her father.
'I was raised in the Midwest, and he is the personification of Midwestern values, he gave me the work ethic that I have, so if I am a hardworking girl who never stops its because of him.
'Also, I am sure of all the things I have ever done in my life this will be the thing he is most excited about,' she said.
Trim: Madonna pictured today and, right, last May at the Met Ball Gala in New York when she complained of feeling fat
The half time show has increasingly featured high-profile pop acts, a far cry from the first Super Bowl in 1967 when college marching bands entertained the crowd.
Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, U2, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, The Black Eyed Peas and Janet Jackson are among recent performers.
Jackson's in 2004 was the most controversial as she made headlines worldwide with her infamous 'wardrobe malfunction.'
Justin Timberlake, who was performing with Jackson, grabbed her costume and tugged at it, exposing her breast's nipple to millions of TV viewers.
Madonna said all efforts had been made to ensure there would not be a similar episode in her show.
'Great attention to detail has been paid to my wardrobe, there will be no wardrobe malfunction - I promise'.
