They were left devastated when their son Archie died just minutes after being born in 2009.

So when Kym Marsh and Jamie Lomas wed in a romantic ceremony earlier this month, the Coronation Street actress decided to carry a box containing her son's ashes to make sure he was involved in the couple's big day.

She told OK! magazine, who ran pictures of Kym and Jamie's stunning wedding: 'I carry Archie's ashes with me to every special occasion. I like to feel him close to me, it's comforting.

Mixed emotions: Kym Marsh carried a box of her son Archie's ashes as she married Jamie Lomas

'Little Archie isn't here today, but we know he'll be looking down.'

In the picture, Kym is seen placing a tender kiss on the ivory porcelain box, while Jamie wore a pair of cufflinks engraved with Archie's footprints for his special day.

She told OK! magazine in an interview ahead of the wedding: 'We will have Archie with us one way or another. We'll celebrate him on the day.

'When we lost Archie, they gave us his hand and footprints, so I have got the footprints shrunk down and put on cufflinks for Jamie and a necklace for me so he'll very much be with us, like all our kids.
'He'll be with us in spirit.'

Happy occasion: Kym wore a stunning Suzanne Neville gown for her big day, which was photographed for OK! magazine

The 36-year-old actress looked incredible in her Suzanne Neville gown for the happy occasion, teamed with a Helen Martin Veils headpiece.

Kym wore her jet black hair swept into a chic 50's updo as she wed Jamie, who looked dapper in his grey suit.

And the pair's three children were involved heavily throughout their parents' big day. While Kym has two children David and Emily from a previous relationship, Jamie is father to son Billy.

Preparations: Kym and Jamie were both seen getting ready for the ceremony ahead of the big day

The couple also have a one-year-old daughter Polly together.

Kym explained to the magazine: 'Emily's a bridesmaid and singing Make You Feel My Love by Adele as we're signing the register - she's got an amazing voice.

'Polly is flower girl, Billy is a pageboy and David is giving me away with my dad.'
