She had to endure months of training to ensure she chopped wood like a professional for her role in upcoming movie Looper.
And it seems that all that working out paid off for Emily Blunt, who last night (Thursday) showed off her slim figure in a form-fitting maroon dress at the premiere of the movie at the Toronto Film Festival.
The 29-year-old actress drew attention to her toned physique in the gorgeous outfit, which featured a cross-back detail and visible zip, as she posed up with husband John Krasinski at the event.

All that wood chopping paid off! After training hard for new movie Looper, Emily Blunt showed off her slim figure in a form-fitting maroon dress at the premiere of the movie last night at the Toronto Film Festival
Dressed to impress: Emily teamed the dress with a pair of nude patterned sandals as she posed with husband John Krasinski at the premiere
Emily teamed her dress with a pair of nude patterned peeptoe heels and left her dip-dyed bob loose and wavy for the occasion.
The British star has been keeping quiet about exactly what role she plays in thriller Looper, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a younger Bruce Willis in a story of an assassin beamed back in time from the future to kill a specific group of targets.
Emily had to work hard to train in wood-chopping for the movie, which sees her character chopping down a tree for firewood.
Slender: Emily left her dip-dyed bob loose and wavy for the occasion, and kept her make-up simple
Co-stars: Joseph Gordon-Levitt had to wear prosthetic make-up to make him look like a young Bruce Willis in the film
She told Entertainment Weekly magazine: 'I had logs delivered to my backyard in Los Angeles, and just learned how to chop wood. I chopped wood most days until I looked like I could chop wood convincingly, seeing as this something the character probably does every day. I didn’t want to chop wood like a sissy, you know?'
And while the premise of the movie sounds slightly far-fetched, Emily said it is one of the projects she is most proud of during her career.
She explained: 'For whatever reason it was, everything fell into place. The script was unbelievable, the director was unbelievable. I haven’t seen this movie before. I think that’s a really rare thing.
Beautiful in black: Covert Affairs star Piper Perabo opted for a cute strapless LBD for the premiere
'For me, I think, to be original and rare, that seems to be the best thing for me right now. Because it’s hard to find that.'
Emily was joined at last night's premiere by co-star Gordon-Levitt, who had to wear prosthetic make-up for the movie to make him look more like Willis.
But last night the actor went make-up fee as he posed up with Emily backstage at the film festival.
Covert Affairs actress Piper Perabo also appears in the film, and showcased her slim figure in a cute strapless black dress and black peep-toe heels.
