Grown-up: Suri continued to show more teenage tendencies today, as she tried on her favourite red lipstick for a day out in Manhattan


She was spotted running in heels as she hurried to her gymnastics class yesterday.

And today Suri Cruise continued to dress well beyond her years as she tried on her favourite red lipstick for a day out in Manhattan.

The five-year-old stepped out with lashings of scarlet on her lips, and a rather grown-up outfit which included a handbag, pink bowler and matching scarf, which she draped around her arms.

Of course, Suri is already a dab hand when in comes to make-up - she was first pictured in lipstick at just three years of age.

Later as she stepped out of a cafe with mother Katie Holmes, she carried what appeared to be a children's fashion magazine.

Once again Suri was spending time at Chelsea Piers, the sports complex in the Big Apple, where she has been practising her gymnastics.

Yesterday, she set a cracking pace as she hurried to her class in her favourite T-bar heels.

Suri is rumoured to have more than 130 pairs of shoes, many of which have been custom made.

Actress mum Katie Holmes has previously defended her daughter's footwear, saying: 'They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids,' Katie said. 'I found them for her and she loves them.'

Meanwhile Katie enjoyed a day out shopping today, where she tried out the trendy 'Heidi' hairstyle.

The 32-year-old stepped out with her locks in a myriad of tiny plaits today, as she made her way around New York.

The Nordic-inspired style suited the former Dawson's Creek star, who is blessed with a luscious long mane, perfect for experimenting with style.

But while Katie was winning in the hair style stakes, she let down with her choice of wardrobe.

The actress had once again slipped on her unflattering beige suede ankle boots.

Earlier in the day for a spot of shopping, she emerged in her offending boots paired with some ill-fitting skintight grey leggings, a white v-neck t-shirt complete with exposed black crop top, and a denim jacket.

To finish it all off she sloppily tied a blue and white stripe sweater around her waist.
