Tribute: Angelina Jolie, pictured at a photocall for Kung Fu Panda 2 in Cannes today, has confirmed her latest tattoo is an ode to partner Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie has finally put an end to mounting speculation relating to her latest latitude and longitude arm tattoo.
When asked about the new etching in an interview with Extra today, the obviously annoyed mother-of-six confirmed that the co-ordinates are a tribute to long-time partner Brad Pitt.
In a rather snappy retort, the 35-year-old was irritated when an interviewer asked whether it related to a possible new adoption.
C'est chic: Angelina looked happier in Cannes today than when she was asked about the tattoo during a serious interview to promote her work as a UN ambassador
'Well, if they know that it's latitude and longitude they would have figured out quickly that it was Brad's birthplace,' she snapped.
'It doesn't take much investigation to figure that one out. The coordinates are Shawnee, Oklahoma.'
In the interview, conducted at the Cannes Film Festival, where the actress is currently promoting her new movie Kung Fu Panda 2, Angelina also ruled out another adoption in the near future, saying it wasn't a possibility, 'at this time'.
Needled: She confirmed that the ink, first seen here when she toured a Tunisian refugee camp last month, are the coordinates for Pitt's birth place
She also explained that Kung Fu Panda 2 'deals with family and adoption,' and that initially she was nervous about how her mix of biological and adopted children would deal with 'such a heavy issue'.
But she said she was relieved with their reaction to the film and said they all discussed it.
'The kids loved it!' They laughed out loud, hysterical,' she said.
Tribute: Another line of the latitude and longitude representing Shawnee, Oklahoma, Brad's place of birth have been added to Angelina's arm, left, and, seen right in December, with just six lines before for the children's birthplaces
'We talk very openly in our house. Orphanage and birth parents are happy words in our house.'
Speculation ran rife about Angelina's seventh line of co-ordinates signifying the birthplaces of her six children, added as recently as a few months ago.
In photos, the full co-ordinates could not clearly be made out, and the inking led to speculation - raising the question whether The Tourist star had another adoption in the process.
Celebrity website Wonderwall asserted that the latest one, based on the numbers that can be made out, points to Algeria.
Playful: The actress said her brood 'loved' the film and 'laughed out loud, hysterical'
Family film: Kung Fu Panda 2 'deals with family and adoption,' said Angelina, pictured with co-stars Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman
However, in February the actress denied reports she was planning to expand her brood.
Other reports suggested the numerics referred to the latitude and longitude of Brad's birth place.
U.S. publication In Touch claimed to have inside knowledge that the marking was actually a tribute to Brad, 47.
A source revealed: 'She got the seventh line right around the time she and Brad moved the kids back to LA.
World famous: Angelina Jolie and Jack Black are at the Cannes Film Festival promoting the sequel to their film Kung Fu Panda
'After dragging their kids around the world, Angelina has finally agreed to Brad’s long-standing request to settle down.
'But in return, she demanded a permanent commitment — the tattoo, which signifies family unity.'
The artwork was first seen when Jolie toured a refugee camp last month on the Tunisian-Libyan border.
She was there in her capacity as a UN goodwill ambassador to appeal for aid for the thousands fleeing war-torn Libya.
Family day out: Brad and Angelina took their brood of six out in New Orleans in March, from left Vivienne, Shiloh, Knox, Zahara, Pax and Maddox
The Oscar-winning actress was pictured on the red carpet in December at the Spanish premiere of The Tourist with just six lines of co-ordinates.
Each one refers to the respective birthplaces of her children - Maddox, aged nine (Cambodia), Pax, seven (Vietnam), Zahara, six (Ethiopia), Shiloh, four (Namibia), and two-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox (France).
Angelina has around 14 known tattoos. Among them is a Latin proverb, 'quod me nutrit me destruit' meaning 'what nourishes me destroys me' plus a famous quote from Tennessee Williams, 'A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages'.
She also has the title of a song by The Clash, 'Know Your Rights' on the nape of her neck plus a 12in by 8in tiger lower down on her back.
