Given the blanket of snow that has been covering Britain, it’s not the most popular of colours at the moment.
But Kylie Minogue and Liz Hurley both went for white on the red carpet at the weekend.
White is said to be one of the most unflattering colours a woman can wear.
Tight fit: In her cleavage-revealing gown Liz Hurley looks ruddy-cheeked - but fabulous - in Munich
Miss Minogue, 42, however managed to disprove the theory – showing off her figure in a stylish corset and hot pants, beneath a daring see-through dress.
She was at the 95.8 Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball at London’s O2 Arena, where she performed alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Alexandra Burke and the Black-Eyed Peas.
Daring: Kylie Minogue goes see-through with a white leotard and full-length gown
Miss Hurley, meanwhile, appeared rosy – if not a touch uncomfortable – in her tight strapless white gown at the Barbara Day Charity Gala in Munich.
Both women boast enviable figures that those half their age would be proud of. Miss Hurley recently attributed hers to a healthy lifestyle.
Saucy: Nicole Scherzinger and Alexandra Burke get their pins out on the red carpet at the Jingle Bell Ball
The 45-year-old actress said: ‘There’s no short-cut to being slim – you have to watch what you eat. I put myself under extra pressure because I still model my own bikinis.
‘You must do some exercise, too. I walk every day with my dogs and try to run – even though I hate running.
‘And I do stomach and bottom exercises while I wait for the bath to fill.’
Snow joke: The Black-Eyed Peas took the British winter weather very seriously and wrapped up warm ahead of their performance
This advice is clearly taken by Minogue's fellow stars at the Jingle Bell Ball, because every one of the performers was enviably trim and didn't mind showing off their figure.
As always, The Saturdays donned eye-catching outfits - this time opting for black, glittering mini-dresses and sky-high shoe boots.
Short and sweet: The Saturdays opted for their traditional look - small and sparkly
Diana Vickers and Nadine Coyle had hemlines just as high but were slightly more conscious of the cold it seems, with their long sleeves.
Despite this, they put on a glamorous show for the star-studded event and were equally gorgeous in their smock and black dress respectively.
