Time to go? Katie Waissel, who has been in the bottom two on three occasions, could face the boot from X Factor this weekend with a double eviction planned
Katie Waissel’s luck may finally run out this weekend as one of the most controversial X Factor contestants of all-time are set to face a double eviction – where two finalists will be dumped from the show.
The 24-year-old blonde wannabe has been in the bottom two on three occasions but each time she has miraculously been saved by the judges.
A double eviction would see the act with the fewest votes automatically eliminated from the ITV talent show while the next two acts would go head to head in a sing off.
Miss Waissel broke down on the stage on Sunday night after going up against Treyc Cohen, who was eventually voted off the show in a tense evening where the girls’ mentor Chery Cole refused to vote.
The former receptionist from Harefield, Hertfordshire, tried to relax on Wednesday night by going out with friends in Camden, North London, where she was greeted by troubled singer Amy Winehouse, who has infamously battled drug issues.
An onlooker said: ‘It was like a meeting of minds…Amy wandered over to Katie and said hello and good luck.
All smiles: She attended the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in London last night, seen with Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson
‘Amy’s a massive X Factor fan and both girls go to the same pub, the Hawley Arms, in Camden.’
Miss Waissel reportedly polled the fewest votes in last week's show .
Thousands of viewers were left in uproar after the results programme where producers went with a majority judges' vote after Mrs Cole refused to pick between Miss Waissel and Miss Cohen, whom she has been mentoring.
And Simon Cowell was left furious after chiefs were accused of ‘fiddling’ the show and organising the majority vote before the two finalists were even announced.
All together: From lef, One Direction, Aiden Grimshaw, Matt Cardle, Paije Richardson, Rebecca, Wagner Carrilho, Mary Byrne, Katie and Cher
Show bosses now hope that Sunday’s show will will help ease fans’ anger. A source told that Cowell, 51, may even make a referral to this week’s row, saying: ‘Simon, in his own inimitable way, may say something – or tease Cheryl.
‘He is most upset that viewers feel they cannot trust the show.’
The double eviction may also spell trouble for eccentric Brazilian singer Wagner, who is reportedly only just ahead of Katie in the weekly polls.
Reports of a fifth judge joining the panel this week are also wide off the mark, the source said.
Team spirit: One Direction, from left Niall Horan, Zain Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Liam Payne
Take That are performing on Sunday night, alongside JLS and Westlife, and Gary Barlow had been mooted to join Cowell, Mrs Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh after a focus group said it would be a good idea to have another judge.
But the insider said: ‘We have these focus groups during every series and have done them for years.
‘This was one of the ideas, but it is very unlikely there will be a fifth judge this week.’
Decision and indecision: The X Factor judges look on at Katie and Treyc Cohen during last week's controversial results show
