According to the Daily Star, TV bosses are hopeful a series featuring the pair will be as successful as reality show What Katie Did Next, which followed the lives of model Katie Price who was then married to Alex.

Doctors had recently told Houghton, 28, that she was running out of eggs and had to conceive in the next three years if she wanted to become a mother.

She announced her pregnancy last month, just five weeks after Reid proposed on Irish TV.

The couple had been planning to start a course of IVF treatment.

Houghton said: 'I'm 11 weeks gone. I don't know exactly when the baby was conceived. I can't even believe I'm pregnant.

'We were a week away from starting IVF. The thought of conceiving naturally had gone out of my mind completely - I didn't even think it was possible. I had my fertility injections in the fridge.'

The former Celebrity Big Brother winner confessed she had no idea she was pregnant and had gone on roller coasters during a trip to Orlando.

She also revealed the couple want to know the sex of their child because she 'can't wait nine months.'

In a recent interview with new! magazine, Houghton said: 'Everyone is waiting on me hand and foot. It's brilliant!

'Alex is so supportive. He won't let me carry anything heavy and he's always asking if I want anything.'

The couple met at the Fate Awards in Belfast last April, just a few weeks after Houghton's high-profile split from TV presenter Rav Wilding.

She was previously married to singer Samuel Preston after they met in the Big Brother house in 2006.

Cage fighter Reid separated from Price in January after only a year of marriage.
