She hasn't commented on her U.S. X Factor sacking since the saga blew up five months ago.

But Cheryl Cole made a huge statement as she very-publicly donned what appeared to be tribute trousers to the show.

Her bizarre fashion choice was spotted at LAX as she jetted in from London last night.

It was unclear whether the pants were a message to her fans that she had forgiven Simon Cowell for axing her from the American judging panel in May.

Or she may have been teasing the music mogul - perhaps for the show's dwindling audience numbers.

Viewers of the first live show in the UL series on Saturday night are said to have dropped by nearly one million.

Over the past week, the Girls Aloud singer has made a series of jibes at the 52-year-old.

On his birthday on Friday, she took to Twitter to announce his age.

She wrote: 'Simon Cowell is '52' Today..... Ooops.. I don't think he wanted that mentioned.. My bad !! ;-)'

She added: 'He is officially in the overs category .. Hehehehehe..'

Cheryl then reportedly hired a plane and trailed a massive 'happy birthday' banner over his home in South Beach Miami.

It read: 'Simon Cowell is 52 today! Ha ha ha! Love Cheryl xoxo.'

But he reportedly found the stunt 'hysterical'.

Cheryl yesterday held hamds with her minder as he rushed her into a waiting SUV.

And in true Hollywood style, the star wore sunglasses at night and paired her interesting trousers with a blue vest and cropped red jacket.
