She might come across as a tough cookie but Katie Waissel has admitted that being at the centre of so much controversy has really gotten her down.
During a fashion shoot for Grazia magazine this week, the X Factor contestant revealed that she has been left feeling scared by the negative press she has received
The 24-year-old, who was spared the sing off on Sunday night's results show said: 'It hurts and it’s scary.'
But she has suffered a new blow this week after X Factor guest judge Nicole Scherzinger spoke out against Simon Cowell's decision to save Katie over Aiden Grimshaw.
The Pussycat Dolls singer told this week's Reveal magazine: ‘All four judges have been in the music industry for many years and they should have realised much sooner that the public just don’t like Katie.
‘I was really shocked at Simon. He is normally so in tune with the public, I thought he would send Katie home for sure. Aiden looked and sang like a pop star. I would have sent Katie home - no questions.

‘I have nothing against Katie and actually think she has a good voice, but without the backing of the public she is never going to win,’ she adds. ‘She was getting booed at the end of the show, which is actually really sad for the poor girl, but it says everything.
There is no question that Katie has had to put up with more than the rest of the finalists. She tells Grazia: 'I’m hoping people will see it has gone too far now: someone hurled a banana skin at me in Covent Garden the other day; I was booed on stage in front of 17 million people. It’s too much.
'It’s horrible for my family. And I haven’t done anything wrong. It just feels like unnecessary drama. I do have passion, but it’s not like I think I’m the best thing since sliced bread. I am actually quite shy.
'It’s like when you wear make up because you don’t want people to see your face – if I showed my true vulnerability I don’t think I’d be standing here in front of you.'
Katie was taking part in an interview and fashion shoot with her fellow contestants Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson who were all dressed in different designers.
Katie wore a long black sequinned dress by Asian designer Ashish Gupta complete with a 1960s headband - and was praised by the fashionista, who said: 'I like Katie because she’s a survivor.
'I think behind all the tears and drama she is actually as hard as nails, like Nomi Malone from Showgirls. She makes great TV.'
Rebecca was dressed in ruffles, pleats and movement courtesy of uber-cool new designer Felicity Brown, who said: 'Rebecca has a natural sense of style, an understated glamour.
'My dresses are utterly and unashamedly feminine – they really suit Rebecca’s personality, being girly, soft, gentle but also flamboyant.'
And Rebecca added: 'I grew up a poor girl in a rich area – the girls had Chanel jackets and Louis Vuitton bags; I didn’t fit in. So I learnt to love second-hand clothes and vintage.'
And Cher was given a natural and cool streetwear look by Henry Holland, who said he is one of her biggest fans.

He said: My A/W collection, which references street culture, is perfect for Cher.
She’s got that street vibe to her music and attitude. I like her individuality, her sensibility... As Cheryl would say, 'She’s reet up my street'.
Cher added: 'I’ve always been a weird one. I’ve been making my own stuff for years – I’ll buy a pair of jeans then rip them up or throw paint on them – that’s how I made my X Factor audition outfit.
'I’ve never been afraid to be different. I don’t own any normal clothes. I can’t help but stand out.
'I love Henry Holland – I’ve met him and he’s sent me lots of stuff. The understated make-up isn’t me and it’s frightening to be in front of the cameras wearing something you’re not used to, but I’m going to roll with it.'
All three girls were saved from the chop this weekend and will face the public vote once again when they perform on Saturday.
